1. Samurai Gourmet



What’s It About: Based off the manga of the same, Samurai Gourmet follows the story of Takeshi Kasumi, a newly retired 60- year old. With a lot of new time on his hands, he gets in touch with his inner warrior and eats what he truly desires. His search for the discovery of new foods leads him on an adventure that satisfied his stomach and samurai soul. Aided by his fantasy companion, he discovers the joy of day drinking.

2. Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories



What’s It About: Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories is an anthology of relationship stories connected by the patrons that gather at the diner in off hours. Frequented by a range of customers, the chef, known as Master, helps them with resolutions. The customers at the diner find connections based on the love of a particular dish.

3. Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman



What’s It About: Amentani Kantaro is a book salesman that leads a double life. He secretly writes a food blog about sweets. It’s his obsession. The series follows his journey into discovering his live of Japanese and Western sweets. His collegues percieve him as a fast and effiecient person, but in reality he slacks off from work to sample sweets. He takes an out of office assignment that allows him to travel to find tasty sweets.

4. Fukuyado Honpo: Kyoto Love Story



What’s It About: Fukuyoshi Hina, Arare, and Hana are three sisters. They tell their tales set in a traditional Kyoto sweet shop with 450 years of history. It depicts with love, drama and careers all set as a romantic drama.

5. The Solitary Gourmet



What’s It About: Goro Inogashiro is an import trader. He travels around various cities in Japan. On his business trips, he seeks out special restautants to eat at. It is based off the Japanese cuisine seinen manga written by Masayuki Qusumi and illiustrated by Jiro Taniguchi. He samples street booths and restaurants to taste the local cuisines while experiencing the various delicacies of Japanese food.
